Try out your luck in a Casino

At least once, that is (and for some once will be enough). But who doesn’t dream of winning the jackpot on a gambling spree at the casino? But if you can dispense with the idea of leaving rich and approach gambling like any other game, it really can be quite a lot of fun.  Rather than winning big, one should set out to spend just a modest amount of money but to play as long as possible.

The trick with gambling is not a secret technique or lucky numbers or anything like that. Don’t approach it analytically like some amateur stock trader who thinks he’s got everything figured out.

If you think you’re lucky, you might get in trouble because, on the way to losing all of your money, there will usually be a few insignificant lucky stretches when you are winning. Take a wholesome approach – the little stretches where you are recouping your investment and stretching out the game, is already the whole prize. Maybe you’ll win enough to offset the price of your hotel room or a nice dinner.

A college mate’s friend planned a trip to an Indian Reservation casino once a week to play cards, I think Black Jack. He took about 50 dollars and played until either he tripled his investment or lost it all – cards tend to get a higher return because you have some control – if you know the game well. This friend frequently won this modest amount and used it to regularly supplement his student income (and have fun at the same time.) My mother-in-law gambles with a group of seniors who simply have a great thrill at the quarter machines, the nickel machines or, when luck has been on their side, the dollar machines (the beginning of the jackpot!).
